There is a valley not too far from where I live. Historically, it’s occupants were indigenous who hunted and lived in the land. I love to go for my jogs there and travel off the beaten path and into the canopy of dense foliage, carpeted by lush green tall grass that is protectively overlooked by ancient trees towering throughout woodlands. It’s a place I have spent time walking through during times of need.
When I enter the density of the woods and I’m enshrouded by tall trees that seemingly touch the sky, I’m covered by the harmony of natural sounds; sometimes punctuated by the morning chirp of the birds, the hoot of the howl or the song of the songbirds. In that moment, I allow the cool breeze to envelop me and I feel at peace.
When I initially discovered I was pregnant, I took a long walk through this place and allowed my soul to touch the spirit which guided my steps. Scripture says that
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Hebrews 11:1
Surrounded by the tranquility of the valley’s grove, my spirit revealed the right pathway, which involved making decisions on a level that exceeded what I was seeing—and in doing so I am walking in faith.
Today, I feel truly blessed to be taking a walk here with my daughter, whom I named Faith.
